Coaching

KATI LIVINGSTON, EXECUTIVE COACH M.A., M.Ed.

I specialize in helping individuals and teams develop mindsets and habits that allow them to realize their goals and break through barriers that are a hindrance to this performance. Through reflection, clients develop a greater self-awareness of limiting patterns that stand in the way of accomplishing their desired outcome. The result is a renewed ability to make effective choices, and to relate more effectively with colleagues, clients and stakeholders. This reflection-and-action approach is at the core of CMS practice, which stands for “coaching mindful systems.”

Humans are a system of a lifetime of experiences, accomplishments and beliefs that drive our activity. Over time these become habitual patterns that operate under our radar as we go about our lives. Many of these patterns have made us successful, and yet they may also need updating as we confront roadblocks and frustration in accomplishing future objectives.

THE “WHAT” & “HOW” OF COACHING

Coaching provides the opportunity to be mindful, and explicitly aware, of:
“The What” – the goals you want to achieve and the skills that will help you get there, and
“The How” – the assumptions, beliefs and mindsets that block progress.

By reflecting on both the “what” and “how” of goal achievement, clients discover insights that help them overcome the inertia and move forward with awareness, intention and purpose.

-Transitioning from manager to leader
-Creating collaborative team dynamics
-Communicating effectively with stakeholders
Navigating the non-financial aspects of succession and retirement planning      (See Blog)
-Delegating responsibility in the collaboration process

My work with teams has included:
-Understanding and leveraging thinking preferences for effective dynamics
-Building team charters
-Fostering a culture of accountability

My early fascination with how people make sense of the world inspired me to pursue a Master’s degree in Adult Development and Psychology, which is my entry point for understanding human behavior and cognition. Having been trained in Executive Coaching from Columbia University, my approach also draws from over a decade of teaching graduate courses Change Management and Team Leadership at Harvard. I believe learning is a key to growth and am continually developing my competence as a coach through trainings in neuroscience, somatics, mindfulness and presence. I work with professionals in many sectors, with a special focus in the financial services industry. Since 2008, I’ve engaged with over 135 advisory, research, sales and leadership teams in my flagship “Seeing How We Think” workshop, and have presented over 175 educational keynote and breakout sessions at conferences worldwide. Most of all, my interest in what makes humans tick, connect and thrive fuels my passion for this work.
